Sergeant Gregory Martin was shot and killed during a traffic stop on I-77 at 2:42 am. He had called in a traffic stop on a red Dodge Ram pickup truck before he was shot. The suspect then fled the scene and later stole a Lucia company van. The case remains unsolved.
